Happy New Year! Toca Percussion and Blush Response News.

Happy New Year!

2013 is off to a great start with amazing things happening already. One of my goals of the next year is to blog more. I plan on creating more content geared towards the music industry including; book and gear reviews, and articles on drum circle facilitation, performance, and teaching privately.

First I thought it would be a good idea to share what is going on with me.

2013 has thus far been marked by a huge career milestone, my first artist endorsement! Last week, I spend a wonderful day at Toca Percussion with my good friends (and amazing drummers) Mike Veny, and Tristan Marzeski. We shot some great percussion jams with the new drums that will be on display for Toca at NAMM. As a fan and player of Toca for years, I can honestly say that these new drums totally raised the bar! The craftsmanship on the instruments is amazing and the new finishes are totally rockin. Stay tuned, I hope these videos will shortly be on the net. After our jams, I firmed up my relationship with Toca as an endorsed artist on their Health and Wellness Team! I am overjoyed to join the team, especially after meeting the welcoming staff at Toca! It will be the start of a great relationship. Special Thanks to Mike Veny, who was really instrumental in making this connection for me. Look for a review of the New Toca Flex Drums which I have been using and will review for my first gear review blog.

My industrial band Blush Response was in Chicago shortly after the New Year to play a show. We played great and expanded our audience. It felt great to have an actual soundcheck and our name on a marque.

As I had never been to Chicago, it was important to check out a good local drum shop. A good friend and great drummer Kevin Jensen hipped me to this new spot. Any drummer going through Chicago has to check out Vic’s Drum Shop. Not only is Vic’s a huge facility, but filled with the largest selection of gear I have ever seen. No Joke!

In closing, I am really fired up about the potential of 2013! It is shaping up to be a year full of great music, people and adventure! I wish you all the best in 2013 and stay turned for lots of content on www.Brendanfinnegan.com.
